Examiner - GCSE Urdu (2017 Specification)

A GCSE Urdu (2017 Specification) Examiner marks candidates’ responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures. Most subjects will be marked onscreen using ePEN, which can be done from home. A few subjects are still marked in the traditional method, using paper scripts sent through the post. A high level of subject knowledge is necessary in order to apply the mark scheme. Each examiner will receive an agreed allocation of scripts.

Responsibilities

  • To mark accurately and consistently to ensure overall standards are maintained
  • To submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times
  • To ensure milestones for marking are adhered to
  • To ensure all administration is completed as specified

Experience/qualifications needed

  • You will have a degree or equivalent
  • You will be a qualified teacher. We will accept qualifications obtained in the UK and overseas
  • You will hold a minimum of 5 months part time teaching experience of the relevant qualification and subject, within the last 10 years. This experience must be obtained within the UK
  • We will consider applicants who do not have teaching experience but who have assessment experience with a recognised UK exam board, within the last 5 years. This assessment experience must be relevant to the qualification and subject being applied for.

Competencies required

  • You will have the ability to work well under pressure
  • You will have the ability to meet deadlines
  • You will have a high level of subject knowledge in order to apply the mark scheme

Additional information

  • The marking period is between May - July.
  • The training required to mark as an examiner will take place between May and June.

Salary information: 
L4-9; £48,785 - £54,750 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract type: Full time, permanent
Start Date: January 2023

Our school is a happy, successful mainstream infant school and our ethos is founded upon our commitment to inclusion. We have a Specialist Resourced Provision for pupils with physical disabilities. This means we have additional funding and good support networks, which all teachers have access to. Our classes are well equipped with up to date resources and high numbers of well-trained Learning Support Assistants supporting children across the school.

The building has been extensively refurbished and most classrooms have access to a resource/activity area and all have an outside door. We have a field and a large playground. There are also two additional teaching rooms, a physiotherapy room, two sluice rooms, a library and a large hall. We have good ICT resources including IWBs in all rooms and work stations with 4 computers available in all classes as well as class sets of laptops and notebooks. We use DB as our MLE and parents and children can access this ‘’virtual’’ school from home using secure passwords.

Children come into our nursery with a wide variety of strengths and needs. We have children who are well supported at home and have good language and learning skills and also a group of children with poor language skills and learning difficulties. We are fortunate to have a wide variety of ethnic groups represented amongst our children and languages spoken at home include e.g. Polish, Somali, Bengali, French, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese and Romanian.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of our pupils. All applicants will be vetted and will have to undergo enhanced DBS clearance, overseas checks if relevant and staff will undertake safeguarding training on induction and regularly throughout the course of their employment.
