The School of Social Sciences is home to eight distinct departments: Criminology, Economics, Law, Politics, Philosophy, Social Anthropology, Social Statistics and Sociology. The School comprises one of the largest collections of social scientists in the with over 250 academic and research staff supported by 70 Professional Support Staff.
The role is to provide clerical and administrative support for key activities of the teaching and learning, and student administration teams in Assessment and Progression or Curriculum and Programmes, depending on assignment.
This will include liaison with key contacts within and outside the University (i.e. Programme Directors, colleagues within the School and, University administrative and academic staff, students and prospective students).
You will have previous experience of working within a busy office environment. You will possess excellent organisational skills, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively. You will be self-motivated, able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and be able to work independently and to show initiative and have the ability to adapt to constantly changing challenges and provide creative solutions. You will be used to meeting deadlines using judgement to prioritise competing demands. You will have the ability to work extremely accurately with a high volume of complex and detailed data and maintain excellent standards of accuracy under pressure. In addition, you will have excellent IT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

This is one of a number of new roles, which will better support all of our programmes; supporting our students, delivering world class programmes and student experience which is at the heart of what we do.
The Scheduling, Timetabling & Operational Delivery Officer will be responsible for scheduling both for teaching and extra-curricular activity on our MBA & Global programmes the MBA & Global Operations Team. As this is an international programme, this team will have responsibility for risk assessments, booking flights and hotels and supporting academics with any teaching taking place in Manchester.
They will support the Teaching & Learning Manager to drive continued improvement and ensure that all our activity is well coordinated and that resources are appropriately directed.
Applicants should have experience of working in administration and preferably have experience with planning and scheduling activities.
Essential to this role is the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, the role requires excellence in attention to detail and presenting data and recommendations to our Examination Board.

We are recruiting to the role of Teaching and Learning Officer (Assessment and Progression) within the School of Engineering (Faculty of Science and Engineering). This post is fixed term and is available immediately until July 2023.
This is a key role within the School’s Teaching, Learning and Student Experience team supporting the management and delivery of Assessment and Progression activities of the schools Taught degree programmes, including the development, delivery and implementation of procedures relating to School Assessment and Progression. Being responsible for providing management and support to the School’s team of professional services staff covering a complex range of activities across the School’s seven Disciplines of Education.
The role reports to the Teaching and Learning Manager and works in close collaboration with other senior professional services and academic colleagues across the School, Faculty and University to develop, embed and maintain effective working partnerships with all stakeholders, conducive to the realisation of School, Faculty and University strategic objectives.
