HGV Technician.
  • Location: Witham, Essex.
  • Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:15 and 16:45.
  • Salary: 70K To 80K Pkr Per Month (dependent on experience).
  • Contract: Full Time, Permanent.
Are you looking for a new challenge with a highly successful HGV and Commercial Vehicle Group where your contribution is recognised? Our client based in the Witham area is actively looking to hire an HGV Technician / Mechanic for their site.

As a productive member of the team, you will spend most of your time as a HGV Technician in the Workshop maintaining vehicles to the high standards, carrying out inspections, repairs and services as well as carrying out roadside repairs to recover vehicles.

Analysis and diagnostics of vehicles is also a critical part of this HGV Technician role to ensure we exceed our customers’ expectations.

HGV Technician Repair Work Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for repairing and servicing of HGV’s booked into the workshop.
  • Diagnosing faults on vehicles.
  • Carrying out warranty repairs to manufacturers guidelines.
  • Stripping/fitting and replacing components on vehicles.
  • Dealing with customer queries.
  • Ensuring that all jobs are running smoothly and deadlines are met.
The successful HGV Technicians will need to have:
  • NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualified in Vehicle Mechanics.
  • (Candidates will be asked to provide proof of these qualifications i.e. original certificates).
  • 5 years or more professional track record as an HGV Technician/Mechanic.
  • Be highly skilled and competent at carrying out HGV repairs without support.
  • Good diagnostic skills with an understanding of Electronics & Electrical Systems.
  • Qualified in chassis repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of Hydraulics.
  • HGV Licence would be an advantage.

As an LGV/HGV Technician at our Client you will be part of the team maintaining our fleet of modern waste collection LGV/HGV vehicles in our workshops.

The role requires maintenance and repair of waste collection vehicles and equipment consisting of various makes, models and types, ranging from car derived vans to artic units and trailers.

So if you are a team player, who offers a flexible work approach and a passion for providing excellent service to our customers, we would be happy to hear from you.

The role covers a blend of early shifts and late shifts -
Early - 06:00-15:30 Monday to Friday
Late shift - 14:30 - Midnight Monday to Friday

Please note it will be two weeks on the early and two weeks on the late before it rotates once again.

  • Maintenance and repair of waste collection vehicles to meet current legislations, health & safety and DVSA standards.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping across all sections of OHSAS18001 accredited workshop.
  • Carry out scheduled inspections and services to ensure compliance with the company's operator license and DVSA regulations.
  • Complete service and repair documentation and any other maintenance documentation in accordance with company standards and legal requirements.
  • Repair and maintenance of hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification of defects including hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.
Requirements

  • Fully skilled having achieved a full level 3 HGV / PSV apprentice qualification/City and Guilds Qualification/NVQ Qualification.
  • Technician level.
  • Must have a minimum of a car/van driving licence.
  • HGV licence desirable
  • IRTEC Qualification desirable.
