Are you interested in securing the home for all developers? GitHub is changing the way the world builds software, and we want you to help change the way we secure GitHub. We are looking for a Senior Security Engineer to evolve and advance the security posture of GitHub and its ecosystem.

Threat Detection and Response are core functions of Security Operations at GitHub. To effectively protect our people, our customers, and our business, THOR must strategically hire individuals who can effectively identify and respond to threats across our platform and supporting systems. To date, we have primarily focused on hiring analysts and engineers with varied skill sets, able to perform security analysis, threat hunting, incident response, and tooling development at high levels.

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will work alongside other members of Security, IT, and Engineering organizations to help drive technical direction for all things security. You will develop and mature a comprehensive security program, build software to manage security system’s sustainably, and foster effective, scalable process development. A successful applicant will have a desire to work in tandem with other security professionals to secure GitHubbers and GitHub systems in diverse environments at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and building systems to detect potential threats at scale
  • Maintaining and maturing the services that support our threat detection pipeline
  • Partnering with other security teams to identify, investigate, and mitigate threats
  • Communicating persuasively with peers to inspire cooperation
  • Working solo or collaboratively while delivering simultaneous projects on a deadline
  • Developing, maturing, and documenting security policy and processes
  • Participating in an on-call rotation
  • Making well-reasoned decisions that inspire and energize others

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with software development in Python
  • Familiarity with data correlation and modern threat detection techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of security controls across all security domains
  • Experience in taking pragmatic, risk-based approaches to decision making while applying practical security principles and practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or expertise with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or a similar cloud provider
  • Familiarity with building, maintaining, and orchestrating containerized services
  • Passionate about mentoring and helping their peers grow
  • Strong experience with production system monitoring & observability
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong sense of empathy
  • Passionate about healthy team culture and collaboration

Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United Kingdom or onsite in GitHub’s Oxford office.

We’re looking for a sales oriented Enterprise Account Executive to join our London team. If chosen, you would be responsible for hunting new clients, negotiating and closing deals of our Smarp SaaS solution within a geographical region.

You will be focusing on the large, international enterprise companies within your region and have a defined named account territory. You will be working with multiple different stakeholders, such as marketing, HR, communications, legal, procurement and IT, from our prospect companies while navigating your way to closing the deals. The deal sizes vary between 5 to 6 figures and are always annual or multi-year commitments. We provide an uncapped and accelerated commission model to make sure success is amply rewarded.


As our newest Enterprise Account Executive you will be responsible for:

Taking ownership of the full sales cycle starting from prospecting to deal closure.


In practice this means:

  • Strategic account planning of defined territory
  • Stakeholder mapping and opening up opportunities with support of the in region BDR team
  • Establishing relationships with senior executives and decision-makers in large enterprises across various departments
  • Undertaking discovery meetings to determine business drivers and challenges.
  • Presenting a value based solution and going through online and in-person tailored product demonstrations
  • Creating mutually agreed close plans with decision makers and signatories within your opportunities to ensure close dates are accurate
  • Being an expert in the Smarp platform and offering working as a trusted advisor to our prospects and customers
  • Working with Fortune 500 companies in redefining how they communicate and educating them on the next evolution in communications.


Who we're looking for:


  • 5+ years experience and proven success in Enterprise B2B software sales (SaaS models are preferred)
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas as well as closing six figure deals

- Ability to conduct presentations to C- level executives and build relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Understand the structure of large and complex enterprises and ability to capture the attention and budget of the right stakeholders
  • Experience in sales process and methodology i.e MEDDIC, Challenger
  • Excellent communication skills both with customers and within an organization and basic knowledge of Salesforce CRM
  • Be willing to travel domestically and internationally to meet prospects/customers and our global team
  • Be passionate about Smarp and the problem we are solving

ABOUT THE JOB:


As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team or a practice team that enables site reliability engineering skills and capabilities across a whole domain. Being an enthusiast in SRE, with a strong DevSecOps mindset, and thanks to your excellent collaboration skills you will work with your team to deliver the best answers to our customers’ needs and to take over full responsibility for its applications, from design to operation. You care diligently about the quality of your work, including proper documentation and security aspects.


You will use your deep technical skills to enable your team to deliver operation excellence, ensure and improve reliability, performance, maintainability of systems and services. You work closely with your team to understand the operational processes, technical and business needs of the products and services your team is responsible for. You ensure observability of systems and services, support change and configuration management. You will be involved in raising operational readiness requirements as part of the development life cycle and validate software development and delivery is consistent, meeting the specified requirements. You are hunting for performance optimisations and recognize upcoming problems before our customers are impacted. You will continuously improve CI/CD and automation maturity and efficiency. You will support your team with efficient incident handling and quick reaction to production problems. For this you can expect to take part in on-call rota. You can work hands-on, being able to tackle the whole design, build, test, deploy cycle and thus also take proactive corrective action where required.


You can verbalise your thoughts and ideas and take the initiative to translate ideas into outcomes. Together with the teams in the Domains, relevant Practice teams as well as the Group Enabler teams you also will research, evaluate and test new approaches, processes and tools and help teams to use them effectively. ABOUT YOU:


  • Experience working with highly available, distributed systems and services in a cloud environment and defining, developing and rolling out technical operations processes and new services across teams and markets
  • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and in managing scaled cloud systems with a focus on solution architecture, the various tools and services, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform and Terragrung) and DevSecOps practices
  • AWS Certification at Associate level or above
  • Strong experience with monitoring/observability solutions, preferably Datadog, as well as with incident response solutions, like PagerDuty
  • Willingness to take part in 24/7 on-call rota and PostMortem
  • Deep automation expertise, hands-on with some programming languages, e.g. Python, NodeJs
  • Ability to apply server operating system administrative knowledge, e.g. Linux , Windows
  • Good knowledge of networking and security aspects
  • Good experience with CI/CD, preferably Jenkins and Gitlab CI
  • Demonstrating true engineering craftsmanship mindset
  • Understanding of social and ethical implications of software engineering (e.g. like described in the ACM Code of Ethics)
